Hi! I am Carman Owens! I am really excited to be the EAST facilitator at International Studies Magnet School. I moved to Jonesboro a couple of years ago from Little Rock, AR! I have a son in second, a stepson in 6th grade, and a stepdaughter in 4th grade. I also have a dog named "Huck" and a cat named "Sweetie!"
We like to have FUN! You can usually find me going on outdoor adventures, creating art and experiments, cooking, and thrift shopping! I love new challenges and traveling to new places with my sweet family. They are my heartbeat!

This year is going to be AMAZING! It is my 17th year in education. I was a 4th grade teacher for 2 years at College Hill Elementary in Texarkana, AR and then moved to Little Rock, AR where I worked at a 4th grade teacher for 3 years at Roberts Elementary. I then took over the EAST program at Roberts Elementary and I have been an EAST facilitator ever since! This is my 12th year with EAST!
EAST is a program where students solve problems and/or make improvements in their school and community using a wide variety of new innovative technology alongside community partners. If you cannot already tell, I love the EAST program! I am very passionate about helping students learn to be empathetic to others while also learning to problem solve and think outside of the box. This program develops great leaders and communicators who truly desire to make the world a better place.
I feel honored that I get to continuing working with students to do this important work. It is a dream job and joy to feel like I am leaving my mark on the world by impacting our next generation of leaders and innovators. Kids can do SO much more than most of think if we will just push them and let them! I cannot wait to see what the students at International Studies do this year to positively change our school and community!
